Within the manufacturing industry the use of gas is self-evident. The most important areas are welding and cutting. Improvements to, and developments of, this technique take place continuously – new gases, new equipment, new methods and techniques. In close cooperation with the customers, AGA has significantly contributed towards this development.
Divide metal – cut
When making something of metal, you need to be able to divide and cut the metal in order to make pieces of different shapes. There are three types of cutting processes where gases are used:
- Gas cutting
This is the most common and most frequent method. It is used for cutting construction steel as well as stainless steel (combined with powder). Acetylene and oxygen are primarily used, but gasol and oxygen may also be used.
- Plasma cutting
Works well for cutting the majority of metallic materials.
- Laser cutting
Laser cutting is now a well-established process in industry for the cutting of, for example, construction steel, stainless steel and aluminum which have high requirements for cutting speed, tolerances and cutting quality. The choice of cutting gas depends on the material being cut as well as the requirements applicable to cutting quality, cutting speed and production economy.
