Modified atmosphere packaging (MAP)

With the help of modern and environmentally friendly gas techniques, it is possible to change the components of an atmosphere, thus extending the shelf-life quality of food. By creating a modified atmosphere from either carbon dioxide or a mixture of carbon dioxide and nitrogen, the food is protected from the oxygen in the air and the method serves as an alternative to preservation. The extended shelf-life quality improves profitability for producers, wholesalers and supermarkets.

AGA has channelled the vast knowledge we have gained in foodstuffs, gases and packaging into our MAPAX® offering. MAPAX® has the following advantages:

  • Increases sales by satisfying growing demands from consumers for naturally preserved food quality without resorting to additives and preservatives
  • Increases shelf-life quality in the distribution chain by days or even weeks, which increases the availability of fresh food to consumers
  • Reduces the return of spoiled foodstuffs
  • Enhances production efficiency and distribution by cutting costs
  • Increases sales volumes by enabling new products to be offered on new markets
