Aquaculture R&D Center

The center is located at the west coast of Norway close to the city of Aalesund. Established in the buildings of a former salmon hatchery, it was rebuilt in 2003. The center includes:
  • Both freshwater and seawater facilities
  • Water system based on recirculation
  • Water heating system to easily control test-water temperature
  • Aeration system that can reduce the oxygen saturation from 1500% to equilibrium
  • Laboratory
  • Demonstration models
  • Transparent waterpipes
  • Offices, meeting room and conference facilities

Dissolving of oxygen in water requires a technology designed to efficiently exploit the laws of nature. Design of the injection equipment is essential, since it must combine capacity and efficiency with reliability and safety of handling.
