Heart-Lung Machine
| In 1952-54, after ten years of experiment and research by Clarence Crafoord in cooperation with Viking Björk and Åke Senning, AGA built Europe's first and the world's second functioning heart-lung machine for operations on a heart drained of blood. The first operation on a human being was performed in 1954 at Stockholm's Söder Hospital. |
